Coast, dunes and Sea beggars' stories on the

South Holland isle of Voorne

You cycle in a couple of minutes from seaside Recreation Park Waterbos to the small town of Rockanje. Rockanje, on the North Sea coast of the isle of Voorne in the province of South Holland, has been an attractive seaside resort from way back. There are numerous beach cafés where you can have a nice meal with the murmur of the waves as background music.

‘Voornes Duin’, the nature reserve bordering Molecaten Recreation Park Waterbos is very special indeed. This 850-hectare beach, woodland and dune area is a nature-lover’s paradise in which it is lovely rambling or cycling, great physical activities.

Children can run from dune top to dune top till they drop, admire the colourful kites in the sky and listen to the croak of the natterjacks in the dune pools. Read more about trips with the kids.

The attractive and lively isle of Voorne is steeped in history. Sea Beggars’ tales are brought to life in the historic fortified towns of Brielle and Hellevoetsluis. You just cannot avoid sampling culture in the vicinity of Recreation Park Waterbos.
